Police were investigating an alleged attempted murder in the Fernhill area of Rutherglen.

The 42-year-old was attacked during a disturbance in a flat at Castlefern Road in the early hours of the morning.

One resident living nearby said: “There were three police cars and about seven officers. That’s what woke me, the flashing lights.

“This is a quiet area but that close is not so good.

“The bottom level is temporary accommodation. The people living there change very often.”
