What you want to see in Cambuslang Park?

Friends group plea

- Douglas Dickie

Friends of Cambuslang Park want residents to tell them what they want to see take place in the facility.

The group hosts a number of activities throughout the year, many of the regular, annual events.

But now members want to hear what new activities they would like to see introduced and what one-off events they would like to see repeated.

Joy Anderson, of the friends group, said: “We will continue with our regular programme - the fun day and Hallowe’en event and things like that - but we want to ask if there is anything missing.

“We don’t want to put words in people’s mouths but a couple of people said at the fun day they would like more nature activities.

“Other people have suggested a bear hunt and the ghost walk we had was very popular.

“We are really keen for the community to see that it is not for us to tell them what they want, it is for them to tell us.”

By including the community the group hope to win funding from the Big Lottery Fund to help them deliver more fun in the park.

Regular events include the fun day, bark in the park, the Hallowe’en party, teddy bears’ picnic and festive carol singing.

They also arrange fairy walks and park clean ups on a regular basis.

Wildlife in the park includes squirrels and even deer, who sometimes appear early in the morning.
