Festive fun at Cuningar

-

Hundreds of people descended on Rutherglen at the weekend to enjoy some winter sunshine in Cuningar Loop.

A fun day was held in the park on Sunday, December 3, organised in partnership between Forestry Commission Scotland and Healthy n Happy.

Over 245 adults and even more children enjoyed a mix of activities from tree dressing, face painting, and arts and crafts, to free bike safety checks, a treasure hunt, historical walks and a visit from Santa.

As part of Cuningar Loop’s continued community commitment, FCS has allocated funds to Healthy n Happy to deliver a series of events in Cuningar Loop from now until March next year.

At least one event will take place in the woodland park every month with a focus on improving health and wellbeing and community engagement and will include foraging trails, gab and a gander, photography walks, guided cycle rides, buggy walks and lots more.

Susan Miller, enterprise manager at Healthy n Happy, said:“We are delighted to be delivering these events at Cuningar Loop.

“We’ll promote Cuningar Loop’s natural offerings over the winter months giving residents the opportunity to learn more about the area and kick off the new year with some great health inspired events offering support for those who are looking to get back into fitness following the holidays.”
