Sympathy for flood-hit businesses
There was sympathy on social media this week for the owners of a beauty shop in Burnside who have suffered from flooding recently.
Number One Nails on Stonelaw Road has lost business due to the issue with no one wanting to take responsibility. Here is what you had to say: “Here at Stems of Burnside I have a foot of water every day and Lasorelle have water damage. I am at the end of my tether and feel for all the businesses effected by this. It’s a terrible problem at the busy time of the year for all shops.”- Jenna Brady
“That’s terrible, hope it gets fixed soon.”- June Blackett
“Shocking, hope it’s sorted soon for all effected.”Barbara Maitland
“This is awful, hope your shop and the rest all have it sorted asap.”- Katie Emily Lucie Liam
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that all the drainage works in the wee park along the road started around the same time as the flooding issues to the shops. It’s a disgrace, someone should step up and deal with this, poor shop owners.”- Andrea Oakes
There was also revulsion after we revealed a vulnerable OAP had been robbed on Rutherglen Main Street.
“Do they ever catch people on CCTV in Rutherglen or is it switched off? Hope the woman is OK.”- Mary Miller
“Such a shame. Hope she’s OK. Why people would do this is beyond me. Poor wee woman.”- Shelley Lee
“This makes me so mad. Poor wee soul. Hope she’s OK.”- Margaret McInnes
