Amateur round-up with Ian Kendall

Newton Vale were clinical in front of goal to keep up their unbeaten record but had to overcome a difficult start.

Kieran Zeb came off the bench to hit the net in the 6-1 win for the Cambuslang men against Dynamo East Kilbride on Saturday.

But it was Martin Jones and hat-trick hero Darren Hampson who led the way on the goalscoring front in a game which saw them concede the first goal and lose an important player.

Newton Vale manager Sean Donaghy said:“Saturday’s match never got off to the best start, losing Craig Fellows early on and also conceding a goal in the first 10 minutes, but our team showed great character to bounce back from this.

“A Darren Hampson double had us back in the lead and the second is definitely a contender for goal of the season as it shot into the top corner from outside the box.

“Kieran Zeb then got in on the action to make it 3-1 with a lovely left-footed finish and then Hampson finished off his hat-trick with a brave header.

“Martin Jones then scored two to make it 6-1 and finish off a brilliant day.

“Six great goals were scored today but some brilliant football was played at times, which we are delighted with.”

The unbeaten run also continued for Division 2 league leaders Third Lanark, who made it 11 wins in their opening 12 games.

They head towards the final game of 2017 in high spirits after a 6-0 victory over Eastwood Parkmount B.

Alan Semple was at his usual best and bagged himself a brace.

Striker Josh Graham was in fine goalscoring form too as he netted twice, while Luke Pye and winger Qaasim Ali converted their chances.

Third Lanark manager David Ampleford said:“We were absolutely excellent today. We dominated from the first minute and reduced Eastwood to some rather hopeful long range shots in the first half.

“We were 3-0 up at half-time. In the second Eastwood came out all fired up and for five minutes played very well but our fourth goal reduced their enthusiasm.

“We were very comfortable and moved the ball very well.

“We were able to give all four subs some decent game time today and we had cracking energy on the bench.

“It’s a pity we didn’t have the iPad today as Sempy’s second goal had goal of the season written all over it.

He’s on fire right now and deserved his man of the match.“

Newton Vale are away to St Patrick’s FP in their next fixture while Third Lanark play Rannoch.
