A Rutherglen-based charity has received a kind donation worth hundreds of pounds.

Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust collected two cheques which total £291.30 from TSB this month.

The Rutherglen branch raised £191.30 by hosting a bake sale and the money was added to a general donation which was handed to their chosen charity for 2018.

Local banker at the Main Street branch, Iain Logan, said: “We’ve chosen the Health n Happy Community Trust to be our charity partner for this coming year.

“We are delighted to be raising the funds for such a good cause. And we are looking forward to further volunteer work with the charity going forward.”

Healthy n Happy works towards providing opportunities for people to actively improve their lives and the places where they live, work and play.

Brendan Rooney, executive director at the Farmeloan Road offices, said: “We are delighted to be chosen as the charity for the year.

“We are really looking forward to working with the TSB staff and the branch. It will encourage customers and local residents, if there are any activities, to take part and to support it because the money will be put to really good use.

“There are more and more people who, due to austerity and financial difficulties, are needing the support that we offer, so it is becoming increasingly difficult to fund the work that we do. So this is really timely and very much appreciated.”

This week TSB is also raffling off two hampers, full of Christmas favourites, to raise more funds for the charity.

People can enter the prize draw, which has a first and second prize, by popping into the Main Street branch.
