Castlemilk Post Office has closed for nine days while a major refurbishment takes place.

The facility, at 263 Castlemilk Road, shut yesterday, Tuesday, January 9, ahead of its reopening on Tuesday, January 18.

Opening hours will be extended to 71 hours a week, 25 hours more than currently available, with the post office open seven days a week.

A new layout will see a lowscreened, open plan style service point integrated into the retail counter.

Customers will be able to access a range of post office and mails services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can pay bill, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

During the closure, residents are encouraged to use the post offices on Rutherglen Main Street or King’s Park Avenue.

The new opening hours will be 7am to 6pm; Monday – Saturday and 8am to 1pm on Sunday.

John Hollywood, Post Office Area Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”

And he concluded: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet all of our customer needs.”
