Thought for the Week

-

There is no doubt that we all have a purpose in life, because God wants each one of us to accomplish something in life.

He calls each and every one of us to great things.

We cannot pretend that we do not hear his call! We all can hear it. I can hear it. I know what God wants of me; I just fail to actually do it.

As human beings that’s what we do: we make New Year Resolutions and then we let them fall by the wayside.

It is not as if it is actually difficult to be a better person.

It does not require effort to avoid unhealthy foods.

Exercising more is not beyond our abilities.

To go out of our way to love people is not a superhuman feat. So what is wrong with us? It is as if we are people just waking up, groggy and unable to act.

We should be like Jesus. We should say, “Behold I come to do your will.”

If we did not know, we would have an excuse, but since we do know God, and we know that we should follow him, we have no excuse.

The good part in all of this is that we can encourage ourselves, we can give ourselves a little motivational speech to get us moving. The bad part is that it only lasts for a little while. So what should we do? Give up and surrender to mediocrity? No!

We begin again, over and over and over again. Do not make a New Year resolution; make a new hour resolution, perhaps even a new minute resolution. “With this minute I intend to do great things.”

A journey of a thousand miles is simply two million individual steps. But let’s begin with little journeys of a just a few steps at a time to start with and then see what happens.
