Wait to submit

Residents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang hoping to submit planning applications next month are being warned of changes to the system.

South Lanarkshire Council say an upgrade will help to deliver a better and more efficient service and will include a new portal for viewing planning and building standards applications online.

But due to the nature of the work, normal service delivery will be affected between February 2 and 23 when the processing of new applications will be affected, as will progress on applications that have been previously submitted.

Councillor Alistair Fulton, chair of the planning committee, said: “To help this period pass as easily as it can, we ask that, if possible, people wait until after these dates to submit an application or to contact us about an application already submitted.

“While officers will be available, it would be helpful between these dates to limit any communication with planning and building standards services to essential matters.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that will be caused by this essential upgrade.”
