Thought for the Week

-

Last week I was asked to organise a children’s talk.

I sat and thought, made notes, and fought with myself, but I couldn’t make it work.

I was becoming frustrated as it was taking a long time to do something that usually comes very easy to me.

I moved on to another task trying to think about something else.

That’s when I felt God say ‘why are you trying to be someone else?’

I realised that I was trying to fit my talk in to someone else’s pattern, instead of being me and planning as I saw fit.

The bible says in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

It is important to work to your strengths and not try and copy someone or something else just because it works.

What works for them may not work for you.

It is also important not to do something just because everyone else is doing it.

We are not robots, we are individuals with different strengths and weaknesses.

Do not become something that you are not, and do not be afraid to try something different.

Be the best you that you can be. Ross Murray Senior youth and schools worker, Cambuslang and Rutherglen Christian Reachout Trust
