Groups receive over half a million in funds
Three groups based in Rutherglen and Cambuslang have received a combined total of over £600,000 in funding.
The Big Lottery Fund awarded the Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre £499,742, and Project 31 £83,194.
Whilst the Asda Foundation provided a grant totalling £26,647 to the Healthy n Happy Community DevelopmentTrust.
Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey praised all three local groups for their efforts to improve the lives of those living within the towns.
Ms Haughey lodged three separate motions to the Scottish Parliament celebrating the success of the groups.
She said:“I was delighted to hear Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre, Project 31, and Healthy n Happy, were successful in bumper grants over the last week.
“All three projects provide vital services for the people of Rutherglen and Cambuslang, and I know the money will be put to good use.
“I extend my thanks to the Big Lottery Fund Scotland and the Asda Foundation for recognising the valuable contribution each group makes to my Rutherglen constituency.”
National Lottery Awards have streamlined their funding application process, and applications are now made on a rolling basis and can be granted at any time.
