Groups receive over half a million in funds

Three groups based in Rutherglen and Cambuslang have received a combined total of over £600,000 in funding.

The Big Lottery Fund awarded the Whitlawbur­n Community Resource Centre £499,742, and Project 31 £83,194.

Whilst the Asda Foundation provided a grant totalling £26,647 to the Healthy n Happy Community Developmen­tTrust.

Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey praised all three local groups for their efforts to improve the lives of those living within the towns.

Ms Haughey lodged three separate motions to the Scottish Parliament celebratin­g the success of the groups.

She said:“I was delighted to hear Whitlawbur­n Community Resource Centre, Project 31, and Healthy n Happy, were successful in bumper grants over the last week.

“All three projects provide vital services for the people of Rutherglen and Cambuslang, and I know the money will be put to good use.

“I extend my thanks to the Big Lottery Fund Scotland and the Asda Foundation for recognisin­g the valuable contributi­on each group makes to my Rutherglen constituen­cy.”

National Lottery Awards have streamline­d their funding applicatio­n process, and applicatio­ns are now made on a rolling basis and can be granted at any time.
