Rutherglen Reformer

Chance to walk down Memory Lane

- David Lang Rutherglen Academy School Reunion organising committee

The Rutherglen Academy School Reunion is taking place on Friday, March 9, 7.30pm at Rutherglen Town Hall.

All former pupils and teachers are welcome.

We currently have in excess of 200 names on the list of those interested. Some of whom have already booked tickets, and for those who have yet to do so, please book as soon as possible through the Eventbrite website at : https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ rutherglen-academy-reuniontickets-39191827812 - the ticket price includes a buffet.

Former English teacher Adam McNaughtan who, among other folk songs, wrote the famous ‘Jeely Piece’ song will be attending too.

For those involved in organising and publicising the event it’s been a real walk down memory lane.

Back in the day of course, we’d have been running and jumping down that wee lane beside the school.

Someone mentions one person and that leads to another six or seven names coming back to us.

And then there is the wondering of “where are they now?” and “what’s life been like for them?”

Some of us enjoyed our schooldays, others not so much at times.

But like everything in life, it’s the people you remember, the laughs and the fun times, as well as those ‘OMG’ moments.

We’ve also reflected on the many years that have gone by, the friendships we’ve allowed to slip away as life got more and more busy and we went our separate ways.

Do pass the contact details on to any former pupils or teachers you’re still in touch with. And we’ll look forward hopefully to seeing you in March.

Meantime all the best and search your attics, memory banks, and deeply buried boxes for any old photographs, school annual magazines, and stories to share.
