Gents’ inspirational joint 12st weight loss
Allan and Lee true winners to fellow slimmers after cutting down
A pair of slimmers were nominated for a prestigious award after shedding 12 stone between them.
And while Allan Ayton and Lee Whyte did not win Slimming World’s Mr Sleek competition, they have won the respect of their fellow members at their Rutherglen class.
Allan joined in August 2016 and, by following an eating plan and leading a more active lifestyle, had shed seven stone by December last year.
He also ran his first 10K last year in a time of just 52 minutes.
Allan said: “Joining Slimming World and finding out I weighed just shy of 20 stone was a shocker; and just the wakeup call I needed.
“The first few days were a little confusing, but I soon found my way with the plan. Eating increasing amounts of speed foods and really focusing on counting my syns soon made me realise it was the right plan for me.
“I’m delighted with my progress and really wish I had started a long time ago.
“Having lost seven stone already, I am so much more able to do all the normal things in life.
“My fitness has increased massively, and body magic is also part of my every day life, I’m loving being at the gym and taking part in loads of new activities.”
Lee, who hopes his story will inspire other men, joined the group in February last year having struggled with his weight for a long time.
He is now five stone lighter and regularly walks from Rutherglen to his work in Parkhead.
He said: “I was fed-up feeling selfconscious about my weight. Any time I went out clothes shopping I mainly picked up black to try and cover myself up.
“As I lost the weight, I gained more confidence and I am in a much happier place now than when I started.”
Their consultant, Lynn Hughes, said: “They may not have won the national competition, but they are both very much winners in my eyes.”
Lynn has started a new Slimming World group in St Columbkille’s Church Hall.
It will meet on Tuesdays at various times.
Free food February will take place throughout the month with support and ideas based around getting the most for breakfast, lunches, dinners as well as snacks.
