Clyde .................. 3 Edinburgh City...2 Danny Lennon hailed Clyde’s character after they saw off an Edinburgh City fightback to make it three wins on the spin.

David Goodwillie grabbed a brace, netting the winner in the 89th minute to break City hearts after they came from 2-0 down to level.

Strikes from Goodwillie and Barry Cuddihy put the Bully Wee in control before Scott Shepherd pulled one back just before the break and Josh Walker netted a 51st minute penalty for the visitors.

However, Goodwillie had the final say when he latched on to Jack Boyle’s pass and drilled the ball beyond City keeper Calum Antell.

After beating league front-runners Peterhead and Montrose in their previous outings, gaffer Lennon said: “I’m delighted with the three points.

“We let a two-goal lead slip but my players showed fantastic character to get it back. After beating the two top teams there was a different type of pressure on us.

“We had a few challenges to answer and we came out with the result that we desired.”

On the transfer front, Clyde pulled off an audacious double signing swoop by snapping up Jack Boyle and Dylan Cogill from English Premier League side Huddersfield.

Attacking midfielder Boyle and centre-back Cogill sealed loan deals with the Bully Wee until the end of the season.

Lennon also secured the services of former Norwich City midfielder Ray Grant. The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a contract until the end of the season, having been a free agent during the last transfer window.

He was previously with Norwich where he spent several years as a youth player, before leaving the Norfolk club at the end of last season.

Earlier in 2017, he also had a loan spell at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Lennon said:“I’m excited about helping Ray take the next step in his footballing journey. The aim, with any young player, is to help them to develop but he is also ready to make an immediate impact at the club.

“Ray has already trained with us and as soon as we saw him, we knew he would enhance the quality that we already have.”
