Rutherglen United Reformed Church will hold a Doors Open Day on Saturday, March 24.

The day will include demonstrat­ions from people and groups that use the church halls.

Refreshmen­ts, tea and coffee will be provided. It will run from 1pm until 4pm. Rutherglen Baptist Community Church are holding a film event this Thursday at 7pm in the church building, watching The Shack.

There will also be light refreshmen­ts and a disccussio­n about the film afterwards.

The Men’s Shed meets every Thursday between 10am and 4pm, all are welcome. Flemington Hallside Church hosts a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm. The women’s guild meets on Wednesdays at 7pm and friendly hour for the elderly takes place on Thursday afternoons at 2pm. Refresh runs every Friday at Croftfoot Parish Church from 2-4pm. It has a number of activities from hand massage to playing pool. Fernhill and Cathkin Church is continuing to create new organisati­ons for the congregati­on, including the knitting and nattering club and the fortnightl­y crafts and coffee club.

The Fitness Follies keep fit class meets every Wednesday at 10.30am. St Columbkill­e’s Parish Church are looking to set up a new choir. This group will be for the 4pm Mass each Sunday, under the leadership of Rebecca and Alan Tavener.The new choir is being trialled at 3pm on Sunday, March 25, and at various Sunday’s thereafter, with the intention of eventually establishi­ng a new group. Anyone wishing to register should e-mail alan.capellanov­a@strath.ac.uk. Castlemilk Parish Church holds community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. See http://castlemilk­parishch. wixsite.com for details. Cambuslang Parish Church’s Lunch Club has now resumed on Tuesday and Friday of each week at 12.30pm. The café is open every Wednesday from 10am till noon. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm for a period of reflection known as Thoughtful Thursday.

There is also the opportunit­y to enjoy fellowship over tea/ coffee and biscuits.

Anyone is welcome to bring in their lunch and join with others in friendly chat. St Bride’s Church’s new Eat Up initiative continues to meet every Wednesday. The new project provides a hot meal each week, giving locals the chance to enjoy some warm food and some company each week, from noon until 2pm. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 2.30pm. Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. The popular Messy Church event at Rutherglen Baptist Community Church is held on the third Saturday of each month (excluding July and August).

The aim is to have fun exploring a bible theme through creativity, games and stories, and to enjoy building relationsh­ips by sharing a meal together. Croftfoot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Friday from 10am until noon. It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30am till 1.30pm. Entry is £1.50. St Oswald’s Episcopal Church in King’s Park has announced details of events at the church. Monday is for Kaleidosco­pe held, offering a play space for children living with autism and their families from 6.30pm until 8pm. On Tuesday there is community yoga, with entry costing £3 and lasting from 7pm until 8pm. All abilities are welcome.

Wednesday sees prayer space at 10am, giving a chance for reflection.

On Thursday there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm until 8pm. Rutherglen’s Salvation Army has a host of events going on, including toddler groups, the jam club and singing groups.
