Murder at Castlemilk flat row
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering another male with a hammer and knife.
Muhammed Rauf, 41, allegedly killed Haider Hayat, 40, at a house at Raithburn Road, Castlemilk last Tuesday, April 3.
It is claimed he repeatedly struck Mr Hayat on the head and body with a hammer and on the neck and body with a knife.
Rauf, from Easterhouse, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Haider Hayat’s body was found inside a flat after police were called to a disturbance in the early hours.
Officers subsequently taped-off three closes and a large grassed area.
Following the incident, two women and eight children were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance. All 10 have since been released.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a flat in Raithburn Road.
“Emergency services attended and a number of people were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
No ages have been released for the children but it is understood at least one is a baby.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area, who may have seen or heard the disturbance take place, or indeed, has any information they think may assist officers with their enquires, to contact the CID at Cathcart police station via 101.
