News in brief from around the local churches
The Fitness Follies Keep Fit group at Fernhill and Cathkin Church meets every Wednesday at 10.30am, and new members are always welcome.
On Thursday morning, at 10am, the Knitting & Nattering group meets in the Session Room, again new members are always welcome.
The church’s next Messy Church is on Saturday April 21 from 3.45pm to 6pm with a theme of David and Goliath, all are welcome.
Children must bring an adult, for a day of music, food and fun. The next Messy Church at Burnside Blairbeth will be on Saturday, May 5. St Oswald’s Episcopal Church in King’s Park has announced details of ongoing events taking place.
Monday is for Kaleidoscope, offering a play space for children living with autism and their families from 6.30pm until 8pm.
On Tuesday there is community yoga, with entry costing £3 and lasting from 7pm until 8pm. All abilities are welcome.
Wednesday sees prayer space at 10am, giving a chance for reflection.
On Thursday there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm until 8pm. Cambuslang Parish Church’s Lunch Club has now resumed on Tuesday and Friday of each week at 12.30pm.
The café is open every Wednesday from 10am till noon. St Columbkille’s Parish Church are looking to set up a new choir.
This group will be for the 4pm Mass each Sunday, under the leadership of Rebecca and Alan Tavener.
The new choir is being trialled at 3pm on various Sundays, with the next practice taking place on Sunday, April 22.

St Columbkille’s are also looking at establishing a bereavement group in the church.
Anyone interested in helping should put comments in the Green Box at the back of the church.
A healing service will be held in the hall at St Columbkille’s on Sunday, May 6 at 2pm.
There will be tea, coffee and music and all are welcome. Flemington Hallside Church hosts a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm.
The women’s guild meets on Wednesdays at 7pm and friendly hour for the elderly takes place on Thursday afternoons at 2pm. Rutherglen’s Salvation Army has a host of events going on, including toddler groups, the JAM club and singing groups.

The aim is to have fun exploring a Bible theme through creativity, games and stories, and to enjoy building relationships by sharing a meal together. Refresh runs every Friday at Croftfoot Parish Church from 2-4pm. It has a number of activities from hand massage to playing pool. Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Church’s friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon. The Tuesday Club has resumed meeting every Tuesday in the Hamilton Road hall. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 2.30pm.
Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. Croftfoot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Friday from 10am until noon. It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30am till 1.30pm.
Entry is £1.50. St Bride’s Church’s new Eat Up initiative, offering warm food and company, resumes today after a break for Easter, from noon until 2pm. Castlemilk Parish Church holds community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month.

The church will also be holding a special vintage tea on Sunday, April 22, from 1pm until 3pm. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm for a period of reflection known as Thoughtful Thursday.
There is also the opportunity to enjoy fellowship over tea/ coffee and biscuits.
Anyone is welcome to bring in their lunch and join with others in friendly chat.
