Car insurance rise bucks the trend
Drivers in Rutherglen are facing an increase in the cost of their car insurance.
Regions in Scotland are expected to face the steepest increase in the costs of insurance – while the majority of the UK celebrates an unexpected U-turn in prices.
The cost of car insurance in Scotland has increased as much as £32 year-onyear, with drivers in central Scotland paying as much as £653 on average.
This is according to the most comprehensive car insurance price index in the UK based on more than six million quotes a quarter from Confused.com and powered by Willis Towers Watson.
Scottish drivers will be paying more now than they were this time last year, as premiums across the UK drop £13 to £768, on average, in 12 months.
This comes after insurers seem to have softened prices following a UK Government announcement to review the Ogden Rate discount, expected in April 2019.
This could mean insurers pay out less when drivers make a claim. The Government has also announced a reform to the way whiplash claims are calculated and paid which may have also had an impact.
And the significance of these announcements on premiums can be seen within the last three months especially, as Confused.com’s index reveals UK prices dropped by a whopping £59.
