Clyde still alive and kicking

-

Clyde boss Danny Lennon insists all the pressure is now on Stenhousemuir after his side kept their play-off dreams alive.

The Bully Wee’s 2-1 victory over Stirling Albion kept them in the chase while Stenny, who have two games in hand, defeated Annan to stay three points clear in fourth.

Two quick goals from Jack Boyle in a frantic 10 minute period in the second half handed Clyde the points. And Lennon said:“It’s Stenhousemuir’s to throw away now but we certainly won’t be giving up.

“We’ll be running that race till whatever team gets over the finishing line first.

“Stirling are a very good side but our players are competing very well against the top teams. They’re playing to a level that they probably didn’t think they could achieve this season.”

Both sides looked flat in a quiet first 45 but the game came to life shortly after the break with Clyde upping the tempo and breaking the deadlock through Boyle who slotted it home after a powerful run.

The Bully Wee switched off after going ahead though and were quickly pegged back with Daniel Jardine there to take advantage of sloppy defending.

Clyde managed to restore their lead 58 minutes in after some confusion when David Goodwillie slipped it through for Boyle who finished despite looking to be in an offside position. The linesman flagged Boyle’s effort only for referee Steve Kirkland to overrule the decision as Clyde held on.

•Goodwillie has been named as the Clyde player of the year. The striker, who has scored 25 goals this season, was voted the winner by fans at the home match against Montrose.
