Flemington Hallside Church’s community cafe has now reopened. The cafe now has a brand new menu. The women’s guild meets on Wednesdays at 7pm.

Glasgow Presbytery is organising a fund raising event for young people in the Presbytery who are going to South Africa in the summer.

Presbytery’s got Talent will feature some local talent, including Graham McGregor from Cambuslang Parish Church and pupils from Cairns Primary School.

The event will take place in Langside Church on April 27 at 7pm and ticket prices are £6 adults and £3 children. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm for a period of reflection known as Thoughtful Thursday. There is also the opportunit­y to enjoy fellowship over tea/coffee and biscuits. Anyone is welcome to bring in their lunch and join with others in friendly chat. Rutherglen’s Salvation Army has a host of events going on, including toddler groups, the JAM club and singing groups. More informatio­n can be found at www.salvationa­rmy.org.uk/ rutherglen. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. The Fitness Follies Keep Fit group at Fernhill and Cathkin Church meets every Wednesday at 10.30am, and new members are always welcome. On Thursday morning, at 10am, the Knitting & Nattering group meets in the Session Room, again new members are always welcome. The next Messy Church at Burnside Blairbeth Church will be on Saturday, May 5. St Mark’s have a cuppa club who meet on Tuesday mornings. All are welcome. St Oswald’s Episcopal Church in King’s Park has announced details of ongoing events taking place. Monday is for Kaleidosco­pe, offering a play space for children living with autism and their families from 6.30pm until 8pm. On Tuesday there is community yoga, with entry costing £3 and lasting from 7pm until 8pm. All abilities are welcome. Wednesday sees prayer space at 10am, giving a chance for reflection. On Thursday there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm until 8pm. St Columbkill­e’s Parish Church are looking to set up a new choir. This group will be for the 4pm Mass each Sunday, under the leadership of Rebecca and Alan Tavener. Anyone wishing to register should e-mail alan.capellanov­a@strath.ac.uk. St Columbkill­e’s are also looking at establishi­ng a bereavemen­t group in the church. Anyone interested in helping should put comments in the green box at the back of the church. A healing service will be held in the hall at St Columbkill­e’s on Sunday, May 6 at 2pm. There will be tea, coffee and music and all are welcome. The popular Messy Church event at Rutherglen Baptist Community Church is held on the third Saturday of each month (excluding July and August). Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon. The Tuesday Club meet every Tuesday in the Hamilton Road hall. Croftfoot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Friday from 10am until noon. It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30am till 1.30pm. Entry is £1.50. Castlemilk Parish Church holds community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. See http://castlemilk­parishch. wixsite.com for details. The church will also be holding a special vintage tea on Sunday, April 22, from 1pm until 3pm. Cambuslang Parish Church’s Lunch Club has now resumed on Tuesday and Friday of each week at 12.30pm.
