Head coach ‘no’

-

Glasgow Rocks forward Gareth Murray has ruled himself out of the running to become the team’s head coach next season.

The 33-year-old from Rutherglen was one of seven players back in the home line-up for Saturday’s game with Newcastle following the Commonwealth Games.

But although Murray has signed on as number two to Darryl Wood caretaker coach since Tony Garbelotto’s exit - until the end of the season, it’s too soon to make a move upstairs even though the Rocks will be looking for a permanent boss come the summer. He said:“The end goal is to be a coach. When that time will come, I don’t know. I’d like to keep playing for another three years minimum. It’s all about the body really. Right this second I feel great.

“My back feels okay. My knee feels okay. If I keep staying like this I don’t have any reason to stop playing.”
