Summer is all about yellow

-

The world watched the beautiful Meghan Markle marry Prince Harry and what a day for fashion it was.

With the royal family dressed to the nines and many famous faces gracing our television screens, it was difficult not to obsess over all the fabulous outfits.

So I joined the staff at Peacocks in the Rutherglen Exchange shopping centre to show off some of their new summer lines on a very royal runway.

With Meghan and Harry (cardboard cut-outs of course, the real couple seemed a little busy that weekend) on display and some beautiful floral bridal displays courtesy of Flowers @ No10 based in the shopping arcade, what an afternoon we had.

After watching the royal wedding and having a rummage through Peacocks’ new summer line it is apparent that yellow really is the colour to wear this season.

Now the fabulous thing about the colour yellow is that there is a shade out there for everyone so whether you are a classic mustard yellow type or a bright sunshine or a lovely lemon there really is something for everyone.

Designers this year are also not just stopping at block colours. You will find yellow within floral designs, animal prints and lace, to name a few.

When trying to pull off the big, bold yellow there really is no need to worry. It’s a lot easier than you think.

You can pair this colour with denim, white, black – the list is endless – to keep a classic/casual style or if you are brave enough to go a little more adventurous it can be paired well with many other bold colours.

We paired a beautiful yellow, crochet trim, Bardot-style top with a pair of coral crochet shorts. This is a fantastic summer holiday look, bright and cheerful and extremely comfortable in the warmer weather. Best bit? It comes in at an absolute steal at £22 for the entire outfit.

I also had the chance to style myself using Peacocks’ lovely summer selection, dressing in the most comfortable, white Alexa skinny jeans, costing only £16, paired with a bright green cold shoulder top (£12).

This top comes in yellow, pink and green and is great for the summer.

With its light, floating material it will be perfect for keeping cool in the heat.

To keep my look casual, I tucked this top into my jeans, which sat at waist level, and wore flat, slip-on trainers.

Peacocks really is the local go-to store for all of your summer needs, from fun playsuits to gorgeous swimwear.
