Burnside

-

A busy week kicked off with Burnside Bowling Club’s Monday night aggregate game.

There were a few recognised names amongst the team of Derek Hutton, Scott Stevenson, Ken Stirratt and Boots MacDonald that took the prizes on the night.

The highlight of the week’s matches were the semi-finals of the Bowls Scotland competition where Burnside had representation in the triples, fours, over 55 fours and junior singles games.

There were mixed results with the over 55’s fours, made up of David Falconer, David McIntosh, Jim Gibson and David Lyburn and Andrew Wilson in the junior singles winning through to the finals whilst the fours and triples went out of the competition to Wellcroft BC and Stamperland BC respectively.

On Saturday the club held its annual Invitation Triples tournament where teams from Burnside and all invited clubs competed.

It was a blisteringly hot day and there were many great games and more than a few laughs along the way.

After a long day of bowls the final was fought out by a team from Burnside against Templeton BC, with Templeton winning the day.

On Friday this week Burnside president Walter Matthews will be playing in the final of the Rutherglen and District singles final at Tollcross BC kicking off at 6.30pm.

The club ask for members and the public to get behind Walter and support him in his quest for glory.
