Player of the year awards
Team’s big night celebrates another successful season
Cambuslang Rangers celebrated another successful season by recognising the stand out performers from the 201718 campaign.
Manager Paul McColl guided the Wee Gers to their third promotion in a row as they return to the top flight of west regional Junior football for the first time in 16 years.
Dale Simeon was crowned CRFC Player of the Year for the second successive season.
McColl told the Reformer that the young midfielder’s award was “well deserved”.
And he was also full of praise for one of Lang’s rocks at the back.
Defender Barry Eley picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award on June 2.
McColl said: “There are senior teams watching him and I don’t blame them. He’s a technical player, good in the air, strong , fit and very, very good.”
Centre back Staunton also collected a prize himself as he was named Management Player of the Year, while the Lang Online Player of the Year award went to John Gemmell.
Gemmell, who bagged 20 goals this season, was also the club’s top scorer and Simeon collected the trophy on his behalf in his absence.
And he was out of his seat again as he presented William Miller with an award for his contribution to Cambuslang Rangers over the last 16 years as he steps down from his role as chairman.
