Appy days are here for St Bride’s

- Jonathan Geddes

A Cambuslang church is feeling very appy after launching a new digital tool.

St Bride’s Parish Church hope their new app for iPhones and iPads will help reach more people in the community.

It will allow parishioners to download services and listen to them on their phones, as well as providing information on services and events taking place at the church.

Father Paul Morton told the Reformer: “It will be a modern asset of communication in the parish and one that can be used by anyone freely and at any time.”

The app’s developer, Neil Paterson, added: “The new Saint Bride’s Parish App aims to cater for the increasing demands for digital access amongst the parish community.

“Smartphones, in this case the iPhone App, allow both young and old to listen to the most recent audio recordings of Mass which is really handy for those unwell or simply unable to attend.

“It also has directions and location information for those new to the area or just visiting to attend an event such as a baptism, wedding or funeral. Information on weekday and weekend services together with contact information make it easy to get details quickly.

“There are also useful notifications that will pop up with reminders about, for example, Holy Days of obligation.

“Whilst the App is currently only available on iPhone and iPad, we are already working towards an Android App which will become available in the coming months together with new additional features.”

The St Bride’s app is available to download from the App Store now.
