They’re after your support!
A Castlemilk seniors’group is appealing for votes after reaching the finals of the National Lottery Awards.
The Senior Centre in Castlemilk beat off stiff competition from over 700 organisations to reach the public voting stage in this year’s lottery awards, which celebrate the inspirational people and projects who do extraordinary things with National Lottery funding.
The winners of the seven National Lottery Awards categories will each get a £5000 cash prize to spend on their project, a trophy, and attend a glitzy awards ceremony to be broadcast on BBC One in September.
The Senior Centre, which is described as a‘youth club for the over-55s’, tackles isolation and loneliness in the community.
The organisation is in the running for best voluntary/charity project, along with five others from around the UK.
Melanie O’Donnell, manager of The Senior Centre, said:“National Lottery funding has been a lifeline for our project so we are thrilled to be in the finals of the National Lottery Awards.
“To win the title of best voluntary/ charity project would be amazing recognition for all our staff, volunteers and everyone involved in the project. We’d love for everyone to rally around and vote for The Senior Centre to win.”
Musician and National Lottery Awards ambassador, Professor Green, said:“All the finalists are doing an incredible job for the benefit of their local community and the work they do is hugely impressive. Give them your support and get voting!”
