News in brief from around the local churches

Burnside Blairbeth Church continue to hold Messy Church on the first Saturday of every month. This is a family service that also includes a meal. Cambuslang Parish Church’s Lunch Club takes place on Tuesday and Friday of each week at 12.30pm. The café is open every Wednesday from 10am till noon. Flemington Hallside Church’s women’s guild meets every Wednesday at 7pm. Castlemilk Parish Church will be running a holiday club from July 2 to July 6. It will take place from 10am until noon and lots of surprises and fun are promised. The church also hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. Rutherglen’s Salvation Army has a host of events going on, including toddler groups, the JAM club and singing groups. More information can be found at www.salvationarmy.org.uk/ rutherglen St Bride’s Church’s new Eat Up initiative, offering warm food and company, takes place every Wednesday from noon to 2pm. The church is also holding a movie night at the parish this Friday starting at 7pm. Cost for adults is £3 and children is £1. You can book using Facebook, a sheet at the back of the church or by paying at the door. The popular Messy Church event at Rutherglen Baptist Community Church is held on the third Saturday of each month (excluding July and August). St Mark’s have a cuppa club which meets on Tuesday mornings. All are welcome. The Fitness Follies Keep Fit group at Fernhill and Cathkin Church meets every Wednesday at 10.30am, and new members are always welcome. On Thursday at 10am, the Knitting & Nattering group meets in the Session Room, again new members are always welcome. And their Messy Church services are held on the first Saturday of each month. St Oswald’s Episcopal Church in King’s Park has announced details of ongoing events taking place. Monday is for Kaleidoscope, offering a play space for children living with autism and their families from 6.30pm until 8pm. On Tuesday there is community yoga, with entry costing £3 and lasting from 7pm until 8pm. All abilities are welcome. Wednesday sees prayer space at 10am, giving a chance for reflection. On Thursday there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm until 8pm. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm for a period of reflection known as Thoughtful Thursday. There is also the opportunity to enjoy fellowship over tea/coffee and biscuits. Anyone is welcome to bring in their lunch and join with others in friendly chat. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. Stonelaw is also having monthly 30 minute services for those who struggle to attend on Sunday. The next of those services takes place on July 4 at 2pm, followed by one on August 1. The church’s Tuesday Chat group meet every fortnight at 7.30pm. The group is a great place for people to chat and study God’s word together. Croftfoot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Friday from 10am until noon. It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30am till 1.30pm. Entry is £1.50. St Columbkille’s are looking at establishing a bereavement group in the church. Anyone interested in helping should put comments in the green box at the back of the church.
