Fans back Boyle transfer
Clyde have brought Huddersfield Town striker Jack Boyle back after their fans helped finance the move by supporting the club’s‘Flying Start’ initiative.
Boyle spent the second half of last season on loan at the Bully Wee from the English Premiership side and the 20 year old scored four times in 16 appearances before heading home only to be released.
The Broadwood club had launched a fund raising scheme to help boost manager Danny Lennon’s budget and Boyle’s capture is the first use of those funds.
Lennon said:“We are pleased that Jack has put his trust in the coaching staff here to help him develop. There is more to come from him as he has the potential to excite fans when he is on the ball and he can be highly effective in that final third of the pitch.
“I would like to thank our fans for dipping into their pockets during the close season to help to generate the necessary funds.”
Lennon also strengthened in the goalkeeping area. Shot-stopper Kieran Hughes, who Lennon worked with at St Mirren, has put pen to paper at Broadwood after spells at Queen’s Park, Albion Rovers and Kilbirnie Ladeside.
Former Inverness CaledonianThistle defender Joe Gorman, 23, who was with Vanarama National League North side Blyth Spartans, has also joined the Bully Wee.
Eddie Ferns, 27, who has secured promotions with Alloa, Albion Rovers, Arbroath and Stenhousemuir in recent seasons was wanted by other teams but has opted for a move to Clyde.
Commenting on his new additions, Lennon said:“Eddie is someone I have known for a long time as I worked with him at Alloa. He will gives us another added dimension as he is very good on the counter attack and very quick and direct.
“Joe is a guy with a good pedigree and he’s at a good age. He’s come in and trained very well with us and he’s someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s an athletic player with a cultured left foot.”
