SNAKE AYES

Bobbileigh’s video is an online success

- Murray Spooner

A hilarious video capturing the moment a woman freaks out when she spots a snake on a pavement in Castlemilk has been viewed almost a quarter of a million times.

Bobbileigh Berwick was getting off the bus on Castlemilk Road when she spotted the slithering serpent and at first thought it was a bit of “rope”.

But when she realised what it was, the 21-year-old uploaded a clip of the ensuing mayhem to Facebook where she can be heard warning fellow pedestrians and shouting: “I’m s****** masel.”

She then zooms in on the pale coloured snake moving along the pavement.

Bobbileigh still can’t believe what she’s seeing and can be heard saying: “Oh my God.” A woman walks by with her dog while another in the background says: “I nearly died when I saw it.”

Speaking after the incident, Bobbileigh said: “I got off the 75 bus on Castlemilk Road and I saw two women and a dog.

“I thought it was a bit of rope, then I saw the movements of the snake and I couldn’t believe it.

“I was scared but knew it was something for social media, so I took a video, and a lady said her boyfriend was good with snakes and she was going to go get him.

“Then I had to go to the dentist and back to work so couldn’t stay long.”

The albino corn snake, a species native to the southeastern United States, is harmless and likely to have been kept as a pet.

This particular breed of snake has a docile nature, is reluctant to bite and subdues its small prey by constriction.

Bobbileigh’s clip has now been viewed 241,000 times and shared by 1745 Facebook users.

On social media, Robyn Black commented: “Could have picked it up and put it in a box and took it to a vet. It’s a harmless cornsnake. It wouldn’t have bothered with the dog either, too big for it to eat.”

Christine Meechan joked: “Snakes in Castlemilk.”

Graeme Devlin added: “Just leave the wee thing alone, eh!? Having a great time.”
