Bully Wee slip from top

-

Peterhead ............. 1 Clyde ..................... 0

Clyde boss Danny Lennon reckons his team were so caught up in windy weather conditions on Saturday that they forgot to try and play football.

The Bully Wee lost their position at the top of the table after a 1-0 defeat to title rivals Peterhead.

Gaffer Danny said:“I thought we competed well enough, but we forgot to play. We were good in winning the ball but we gave it back to Peterhead too easily. It’s a poor goal to concede. We’re disappointed but we’ll learn from it - the players, myself and the staff.”

The blustery conditions meant that chances were few and far between.

Neither Jordan Stewart or Chris McStay could take advantage of free kicks just outside the Peterhead box in the first half.

The only goal of the game came when Derek Lyle sent Rory McAllister clear with a clever lobbed pass and the Blue Toon forward kept his composure to slot past keeper Blair Currie from 10 yards.

Clyde had a decent chance to equalise but David Goodwillie’s shot went past the post, before Ray Grant forced a save from Peterhead keeper Greg Fleming.

However, the Bully Wee struggled to create any more chances, and the Blue Toon saw the game out comfortably enough.

Clyde will hope to bounce back at home against Edinburgh City this coming Saturday at 3pm.
