Spiders fall short at Annan

Queen’s Park boss Gus MacPherson was left frustrated after a disappointing day for the Spiders at Galabank.
And even Annan manager Peter Murphy was in agreement that Queen’s had deserved better.
A three goal burst early in the second half proved to be the difference, with Smart Osadolor replying for the Hampden men.
Gus said:“I don’t feel there was a great deal between the teams, we knew the type of game it was going to be.
“There was a crazy seven or eight minute period that we got into trouble with. We look at it, and we learn from it.
“We should have been ahead at half time - we have to take our opportunities.”
There was praise from Gus for his team’s play, though.
“There were a lot of positives to take - we have young full backs, James Grant and Ally Miller, and hopefully they learn more from that 90 minutes than in three or four months of development football.”
Annan gaffer Murphy added:“I’m disappointed. For 83 minutes Queen’s Park were better.”
Next up for Queen’s will be Albion Rovers at home this Saturday with a 3pm kickoff.
Meanwhile the Spiders will head to Wales in the next round of the Irn Bru Cup, being drawn to play the New Saints after upsetting Championship side Ayr 4-2 on penalties last week.
