Wrestler in action on home turf
Top grapler defends title
A wrestling champion from Burnside will defend his title next weekend – in his own neighbourhood.
Alexander Darwin MacAllan became the Source Wrestling Champion in July this year after winning a 15-man tournament.
The 34-year-old is now preparing to defend his belt when the popular sport comes close to home.
Burnside Scout Hall will host the Source Wrestling show on Saturday, September 29, and Alexander will star in the top-of-the-bill championship match.
Alexander, whose day job is an accountant manager, says that fans can count on an entertaining event.
He told the Reformer: “A Source Wrestling show is always a great, family friendly event with a good atmosphere.
“I’ve been a wrestling fan since I was a kid and I first began training around five years ago. For the last two years I’ve been involved in public shows like these which are always a great laugh.
“In July this year I became Source champion and the Burnside show will be my second title defence.”
Alexander trains every week at Source Wrestling School in Pollokshaws, but is looking forward to putting on a show for young wrestling fans in the area.
Matt Daly, another professional wrestler who was born in Rutherglen, will also be taking part in the show.
