Brexit is needed to justify democracy

-

Dear editor,

So Councillor Robert Brown thinks it is time for a people’s vote. Where has he been? What is it with politicians who don’t know what democracy means, another disgraceful outburst from a politician from a failed party.

It seems democracy only applies to some individuals as long as you agree with them!

Perhaps we should keep having referendums until we all agree with them.

So lets look at all our political parties performances since the vote to be free from a United States Of Europe.

The Tories are hell bent on beating each other up over Europe as they have been for the last 30 years.

The Labour party (oh Jeremy Corbyn, why did you change your mind?) still don’t know where they stand on Europe.

The SNP, dear oh dear, have lost the plot totally.

The Lib Dems who want a Brexit from Brexit are laughable.

And finally UKIP - talk about a party hitting the self destruct button.

So who do we vote for at the next election?

I personally don’t have a clue so I will vote for an individual who upholds democracy because that is what this country is, not some sort of tinpot state where the elite run the country and we all tag along like nodding dogs. John Reilly Address Supplied

Breastcancerappeal

Dear Editor

Many readers will be thinking of loved-ones during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, having seen the devastating impact breast cancer can have on a person’s body, emotional wellbeing and sense of identity.

I’m encouraging everyone to gather friends, family or colleagues for a Big Pink party, on Friday October 12, to support people living with and beyond breast cancer.

However you do yours, all money raised will help the charity continue to be there for the 691,000 people living with breast cancer in the UK today.

As little as £30 could give someone the specialist information and support when they need it most through the Breast Cancer Care Helpline.

Breast Cancer Care is not government funded so every penny you raise makes a huge difference.
