Troubled boxer Scott Harrison on comeback
Cambuslang boxing hero Scott Harrison is aiming for the sky as he prepares for an almighty comeback in November.
The two-time world champion is confident he will return to the top of his sport which saw him stage 12 title defences before he was stripped of his belt.
And at 40 years old, Harrison insists his sharpness and timing in the ring is “as good as ever”.
He is due to fight at a Glasgow venue on November 23, against an opponent yet to be decided.
It will be the start of a long gruelling road which would leave others daunted.
Harrison said: “I’m 40, and I feel great. I’m very confident I can get back to that level.
“The reason is that boxing is my business.
“It is what I do for a living to support my family and what I’ve always done. I’ve done it since I was 18.
“I left at the very top of my game. World champion and 12 defences.
“I’ll get my opportunity again. I’m sharp, my timing is as good as ever.
“If my timing was not good and I didn’t feel sharp I would know and I wouldn’t be putting myself through all the training. “There has been a lot of wasted time. “This is how I provide for my family. “This is how I earn my living. “I promised Stacey and and the family and I’ll do it.”
Harrison’s was granted a professional boxing licence earlier this month.
Harrison received his licence from the British and Irish Boxing Authority, having been rejected by the British Board of Boxing Control days before.
A legal battle was due to begin as Harrison threatened the British Board of Boxing Control with court action, however he is now fully focused on his boxing return.
Harrison’s scheduled comeback fight will be his first bout in six years.
His most famous bouts were against the muti-world champ Manuel Medina at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena.
