Former world champion Garry Jacobs also showed his support by donating 14 pro boxing tickets for his next show, which were snapped up during the evening’s auction for £520.

The top-of-the-bill fight featuring Durie’s boxer Danny Burke had to be cancelled because his opponent pulled out just three days before their bout.

Archie was scrambling around at the last minute trying to find a replacement opponent, but nobody he asked fancied taking on the tough Castlemilk man.

The crowd were warmed up with two young cub boxing bouts.

Nine-year-old old Cambuslang boxer Ben Hamilton stepped into the ring against Dumfries lad Liam Johnson. The pair had similar styles and local lad Ben impressed with his left hooks.

Next up was Cambuslang 10-yearold Ruby Samson, who faced Chloe Johnson, and little southpaw Ruby showed she is future champion material.

With cubs bouts there is no decision and both competitors have their hands raised at the end.

There were 10 competitive bouts which featured seven talented boxers from Durie’s in Rutherglen.

Highlights on the night included the fiercely competitive bout between Durie’s boxer Hassan Saleem and Omar Khan. Saleem, a 14-year-old Govanhill lad, recorded his first win – and was named boxer of the night.

Cambuslang 11-year-old Josh Bell also showed great heart pressing forward against the much taller Ryan McCabe, and just losing out on a split decision.

Brandon Grant, a 14-year-old from Rutherglen, impressed the crowd with his class performance and victory against the more experienced Aidan Rodgers.

The headline bout between Durie’s man Stephen Mullen and Dylan Wallace, of Sam Kynoch’s Glasgow City gym rounded off the night in style.

It was one round each, and then in the third Mullen hit Wallace with some heavy shots, forcing the ref to give Wallace a standing count of eight late in the round.

The bout went to the judges’ score cards and the crowd were not happy when Wallace won via split decision.

Archie Durie said: “The show was sold out almost weeks ago, the atmosphere was brilliant, and what a night of boxing.

“There were some great wins and some losses but, all in all, I’m so proud of all my boxers.”

Durie’s ABC thanked new club sponsor Graham Cameron, of ABH Contracts, and other sponsors on the night.
