Midnight express heads for Rutherglen

A bluegrass band from Tennessee are to stop over in Rutherglen this Friday.
Midnight Run will be at Stonelaw Parish Church this Friday night for a special gig, which will showcase music styled after the likes of Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Merle Haggard and the legendary Chuck Berry.
Originating in the Gateway of the Great Smoky Mountains, Midnight Run began their musical journey three-and-a-half years ago, at the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Now performing more than 200 shows each year, the band find themselves playing to audiences all over the world.
Midnight Run stays true to their musical roots with tight harmonies and a reverence for old style bluegrass music, all while stretching the boundaries of the genre with their song selection, stage antics and exciting performance.
The band are favourites among bluegrass enthusiast and nonbluegrass audiences alike, and are known for keeping the energy high and the audience on their feet.
They are comprised of Seth Mulder on mandolin, Colton Powers on five strong banjo, guitarist and vocalist Rodney Worley and Max Etling on upright bass and vocals.
So far the band has released two CDs, Live From The Holler Volume 1 and 2 and they are currently working on a third release for later this autumn, while they have shared a stage with the likes of the Soggy Bottom Boys, the Lonesome River Band and JD Crowe.
Support will come from the Mairs Family Band.
Show time on Friday is 7.30pm and entry is £10.
Tea/filter coffee and home baking included.
Seating will be limited, so it is suggested to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
