A Cambuslang gran has lost so much weight that she no longer needs to have another dreaded knee operation.

Patrina Lindsay first had a knee replacement op three years ago and feared undergoing a second surgical procedure further down the line.

But her hospital experience was enough to kick Patrina into action and lose the excess weight that was badly impacting her health.

She explained: “My trigger moment when I realised I needed to lose weight was when I was having a knee replacement three years ago.

“I had to get weighed for the operation, and realised how much weight I had actually put on.

“This made me feel embarrassed and upset and it brought home I really didn’t want to go through another operation.

“I had tried so many ways to lose weight in the past, but my GP recommended Weight Watchers to me.”

Patrina joined the Cambuslang Baptist Church Weight Watchers meeting on a Tuesday evening, and was joined by her friend Anne Marie Baran, who was recently featured in the Reformer.

The pals shared ups and downs in their weight loss journey, but ultimately kept each other accountable and shared menus, along with swimming and walking together regularly.

Patrina has gone from 15 st 4lbs to 11st 3lbs.

“Losing weight has changed my life,” said Patrina. “It’s changed my health, especially as I no longer need to have that second knee replacement, and as long as I keep the weight off, then that’s the way it will stay.

“It now means that there’s no pain which is just amazing, and I’m more active than I’ve ever been before.

“Losing weight has given me back me, but a better version of me. My family and I can still enjoy great healthy food we like but stay on track and still lose weight.”

She added: “I’m also looking forward to my next big birthday with a healthier outlook and a longer pain-free life.

“I have to thank my good friend Anne Marie, Weight Watchers, and my supportive coach Lynda Kadegis who I couldn’t have done it all without.

“Of course, the support of my family has been amazing too.”

Patrina admitted she used to munch on plenty of pizza, pastas, crisps, and sugary foods, but now eats a lot more sensibly.

The Weight Watchers nutritional advice has also educated Patrina on food portions, healthier food choices, and how she can still enjoy treats in moderation.

Patrina said: “I now feel younger than ever, and feel healthier with more energy, and I especially love shopping for clothes now, whereas before I didn’t even look at myself in a mirror.

“I’m just so happy to have joined Weight Watchers, and to have achieved my weight loss, and will continue to keep going on my journey to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
