Girls need players

Clyde’s titles hopes suffered a blow after they slipped to a home defeat.

Fans had hoped the club’s recent run of poor form might be at an end but they were secondbest here.

The visitors took the lead with the first attempt on target when Scott Brown was allowed to burst up the middle of the park, and he beat Blair Currie with a powerful shot from the edge of the area.

Ally Love and Kristoffer Syvertsen missed good chances to level the match before half time.

The second half sparked into life with two red cards inside five minutes.

Firstly Michael Dunlop received a straight red card for the Blue Toon after he crashed into David Goodwillie.

A few minutes later the Bully Wee were down to 10 men after Tom Lang picked up a second booking for tugging a Peterhead player back.

The visitors adapted to the change quicker when Derek Lyle wrapped up a counter-attack.

There was hope for Clyde when a John Rankin cross into the box was played back across goal by Karim Belmokhtar and took a big deflection off Pat Boyle, ending up in the back of the net.

The game was killed off late on when Lyle’s longrange effort flew into the top corner.

Clyde will aim to get back to winning ways against Edinburgh City on Saturday. Drumsagard Under-13 girls are looking for new players.

They train at Newton Farm Primary every Monday and Wednesday and games are played on a Saturday.

Any girls born before December 31, 2006, are eligible.
