Rep ready to roll with this year’s panto...

Oh yes they are!

- Jonathan Geddes

It’s that time of year again... oh yes it is!

Rutherglen Rep are set to perform their annual Christmas pantomime this weekend, and tickets are still on sale for the shows.

This year the local am-dram group are performing Wee Willie Winkie, written by the Rep’s own Isabella C. Rae.

The plot of the show sees the Land of Nod in chaos, thanks to evil Provost De Mon and his minder Beater.

They have terrified the children so much that none of them can sleep at night, not even the wild twins, Harum and Scarum, grandchildren of Granny Rosie Dozy.

Enter Wee Willie Winkie, sent by his fairy godmother, Supersillia, to solve the problem!

At first he seems to be winning, until crafty De Mon tricks two useless trainee fairy godmothers, Hocus and Pocus, into helping him defeat Willie.

Can Willie Winkie triumph and defeat De Mon, or will De Mon succeed in his evil work? Who will win the battle for the futures of the children of Nod?

The answers can be found at the panto, which Rep members say will be good fun for the whole family.

It is being performed on Friday at Rutherglen United Reform Church at 7.30pm and then on Saturday at Kirkhill Halls at 2.15pm.

Tickets will be available on the door on a first-come-firstserve basis or are available on through the Rep’s at website www. rutherglenrep.org.uk/tickets, priced at £8/£7 or £22 for a family ticket.

The local acting crew are always looking for new members, and if anyone is interested in joining up then they should speak to one of the group after the weekend’s shows or contact them through their Facebook page.
