Clyde pay price for ‘sloppy’ goal loss

-

Cowdenbeath ....... 1 Clyde ..................... 1 Clyde boss Danny Lennon was disappointed after the Bully Wee blew another lead on Saturday.

John Rankin gave Clyde a deserved first-half lead, but a sloppy start to the second half let in Jordan Allan to level the match for the Blue Brazil.

And the Broadwood men’s worrying trend of letting three points slip away left Danny a frustrated man.

He said:“I thought we were very good in the first half, in and out of possession.

“The big concern for me, is that we have to learn how to win a game 1-0.

“We gave away another very sloppy goal and our momentum changed after that.”

Clyde started the match on the front foot and came close to an early goal, when Mark Lamont’s free-kick from 25 yards hit the post.

It wasn’t long before the goal arrived, though.

A nice team move from the back led to David Goodwillie being given the ball on the left wing and he picked out John Rankin at the edge of the box, with the midfielder firing home stylishly.

Just before the break, Clyde were unlucky not to score again when Barry Cuddihy connected well with a volley, but it went straight at home keeper David McGurn.

However, the second half saw a change in fortunes, after Clyde failed to clear the ball and Allan took full advantage.

It could have been even worse for the visitors, but a header by Marsh drifted wide of the post, before an uneventful second half petered out, with few opportunities created by either side.

Next week Clyde will attempt to get back on track against Annan Athletic, kickoff 3pm at Broadwood.
