Lots on show at the Town Hall

A jam-packed programme of events has been unveiled for Rutherglen Town Hall in 2019.

The Main Street venue’s line-up includes comedy, theatre and live music, with shows now confirmed through until the summer.

Kicking things off is a new comedy The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns (January 26), which sees a lovelorn author finding herself being given dating advice from Burns.

The ever popular Comic Con returns for a third year (February 2), bringing with it writers, artists and a whole heap of superheroe­s.

Then a top tribute to rock royalty rolls into Rutherglen with the Springstee­n Sessions (February 15), offering the best of the Boss.

Then it’s entertainm­ent for kids with Mr Fibbers: Out of Tune, which is filled with jokes and songs (February 16).

And coming hot on the heels of Valentine’s Day is Love Me Tinder, a comedy starring May Miller, Michelle McManus and Johnny Mac, providing a laugh-filled look at online dating (February 20/21).

There’s stripped back interpreta­tions of rock greats with the Acoustic Mac and Sting gig (February 23) and some soul classics with Let’s Drift (March 1).

The Activage music and arts festival will present Phil Differ’s new show Billy Bremner & Me (March 15),an autobiogra­phical one-man show based around the beautiful game, and there’s afternoon music from folk trio Aonach Mor (March 20), before the events wrap up with A Dose of Blushes, a comedy drama about three women in 1982 Glasgow (March 22).

A tribute to classic rockers Bad Company and Free is lined up, paying homage to legendary vocalist Paul Rodgers (March 29), and then there’s entertainm­ent for youngsters with interactiv­e show You Chose (April 2).

The fun for kids continues with puppet shows The Lighthouse Keeper’s Tale (April 9) the Dragon & the Whales (April 10) and A Ladder to the Stars (April 11).

There is another top musical tribute with the Absolute Jam (April 13) blasting through classics like Going Undergroun­d and A Town Called Malice, while Memory Lane (April 16) promises to be the ultimate feel good trip back in time.

Little Fix arrive (May 12) with a string of Little Mix’s pop bangers in store, before the New Jersey Boys (May 17) present musical entertainm­ent of a different sort.

The musical tributes continue with Just Beatles delivering the Fab Four’s hits and much more (May 31), while legendary musical Evita is performed by Windmill Production­s (June 11 to 15) and the best of Blondie is in town with Dirty Harry (June 22).

Lastly, the always popular tea dances continue every month, usually on the third Thursday.
