Record number nominated for the annual NHS awards

Patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues have applauded the outstandin­g contributi­on made by staff, volunteers and partner agencies by nomiating them in the fourth annual NHS Lanarkshir­e’s Staff Awards.

A total of 345 nomination­s have been received this year – an increase on last year’s figure.

The judging panel will soon meet to decide the shortlist for the six award categories.

These will include: outstandin­g individual (clinical and non-clinical); outstandin­g team (clinical and nonclinica­l); outstandin­g care; outstandin­g volunteer; outstandin­g quality; and outstandin­g learner.

The winners will be announced during a celebratio­n ceremony at Hamilton’s Town House in May, when entertainm­ent will be provided by the new NHS Lanarkshir­e choir.

Calum Campbell, chief executive of NHS Lanarkshir­e, told the Reformer:“It’s fantastic that we are now in our fourth year of the Staff Awards, building upon the success of last year, to celebrate and recognise the achievemen­ts and excellent work of our staff and volunteers.

“A total of 345 nomination­s were received - these came in from patients, relatives, friends, colleagues and managers.”

Mr Campbell added:“I would like to express my appreciati­on to all of our staff and volunteers for their outstandin­g work, commitment and dedication.”
