Thought for the Week

-

People talk nowadays a lot about the journey they have been on in life.

You watch celebrities talking about their journey in reality TV shows. The media are always interested in the journey that celebrities take – the spicier the better!

We may make fun of celebrities who go on TV shows and appear to spill the beans about their lives but actually, there is merit to it!

All of us are on a journey from the moment we’re born till we take our last breath.

I have been asked to speak at events where people like to know about me. On those occasions, I like to tell people about my faith history.

A person’s faith history is the people you have met in your life who have influenced you, the places you have seen that have had an effect on you and the books you have read that have changed your perspective on your faith and shaped your life. Even if you are not a Christian like me, you can still sit and do this.

List the people, places and books which have had an effect on your life.

You may be reading this and think that nothing really comes to your mind. But if you sit back, close your eyes and look back over your life, you may be surprised at who and what comes to mind.

We are the people we are because of the connections and interactions we’ve had over the course of our lives.

Every now and then it’s good to sit and recognise and acknowledge that.

Sometimes it helps us to move on, other times it helps us to be thankful for what we have and who we are.

Perhaps this week you can find a quiet moment in your busy schedule to sit and think about your journey and who or what has played a part in it. Rev Aquila Singh, Fernhill and Cathkin Parish Church
