Glens keen to put defeat behind them

-

Glencairn boss Willie Harvey wants his side to forget about the past and focus on the future, after their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Darvel Juniors.

Darvel spent the majority of the game down to 10 men after an early red card for Callum McKenzie, but the Glens could not find a way through.

And their manager wants them to move on as quickly as possible.

He said: “There’s no point in us spending time thinking about what we could have done differently, because we can’t do anything about it unless we had access to a DeLorean (from time travel film Back to the Future).

“It was a bad day at the office but we created enough chances that we could have won the game, we just didn’t take them. The red card changed things because Darvel sat in, and fair play to them - they defended really well and frustrated us.

“Then Tony Fraser, who’s been superb all season, gets caught in possession and they break away and score.

“We spoke about it over the weekend but we need to be positive from now on, ahead of the Craigmark game.”

Despite the defeat, the Glens still control their own destiny, sitting in second place in the table, a point ahead of Arthurlie, having played a game less.

And Willie reckons that the Glens can get back on track on Saturday.

“We’re a scalp for other teams now, because we’re at the top of the league, and you need to have the bottle to cope with that.

“Craigmark gave us a hard game earlier this season and it was 2-1 for a long time before they capitulated and it ended up 5-1. It’s still in our hands, that’s the important thing.”
