THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

-

On a recent visit to Tayside, I paid a visit to V & A Dundee, the design museum.

While browsing the various exhibits, I was particularly fascinated by the robot display.

It comprised a large robotic arm that held a large circle which was dropped into a large mixture of bubble liquid.

It then moved around, making different shapes of large bubbles.

I sat there for ages watching the display.

Or, to be honest, I was captivated at the children’s faces as they came along and saw it.

They were excited, mesmerised at these giant bubbles.

They weren’t interested in what was making them, just the fact that they were there.

I sat there, captivated, peoplewatching for ages as well as enjoying the bubbles.

The children would go around the display excitedly trying to catch a bubble, but most of the time, it was out of reach.

The adults smiled and enjoyed watching the bubbles, but not with the same excitement and wonder that the children showed.

Is it a case that, as we get older, we get more serious and don’t show our emotions as much?

I think that we should get excited as we see the wonders in the world around us each day.

The autumnal colours of the trees, the misty mornings, the sun trying to shine through the clouds, the smile and friendly words of a friend or a neighbour.

Let’s be excited and see the world around us.

Looking at it as children see it, no matter what age we are.

As the Bible says: “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”
