A Rutherglen TV star has landed a plum new role to make his hometown the happiest and healthiest place to live in Scotland.

Scott Kyle, who stars as Ross in the popular drama series Outlander has taken on the task of community fundraiser for charity Healthy n Happy’.

And delighted Scott wants his new role to help Cambuslang and Rutherglen residents alike.

He said: “Healthy n Happy provides opportunities for people to actively improve their lives and the places where they live, work and play.

“It’s a great vision and one I’m proud to play a part in,”

The 36-year-old, who has appeared in movies such as The Angels’ Share and Kilo Two Bravo, has also taken part in various shows on CamGlen Radio – the community station supported by Healthy n Happy, while establishing a career that has taken him into the international spotlight.

Scott continued: “I have travelled across the world to help good causes but now it’s time to give something back and help the people closer to home who have supported me.

“I was first attracted by CamGlen Radio and Number 18, a community hub and events space in the heart of the community.

“However, when I learned about all the other Healthy n Happy projects, I really wanted to get involved.”

As a community fundraiser Scott’s role will be to make more people aware of the charity’s work and supporting them.

By fundraising, people can support the wide array of services provided for locals.

“One of the challenges I have set myself is to help recruit an army of local heroes to take part in activities to raise money and awareness about the incredible work of Healthy n Happy,” Scott added.

The star has already signed up to a 23-mile Kiltwalk next year and is looking for as many people as possible to join him.

There are four Kiltwalks planned for 2020, in Glasgow,Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.
