Harvey: Youain’t seenthe bestofus

Glencairn boss Willie Harvey saw his side’s game frozen off last Saturday – but he reckons greater consistency can heat their form up.

The Glens will try again this weekend to play Petershill in the Scottish Junior Cup replay, following a 2-2 draw a fortnight ago.

The game continued a disappointing run of form for the local side, who have only one win in their last seven games.

But the Glen’s manager believes that there has been improvement.

He said: “Petershill seem to think they can improve and that they have seen the best of us already, but we still have a lot to show.

“We’re not firing on 100 per cent yet, but there are signs there that we are getting back to our best.

“What we need to do is be more consistent at both ends of the pitch and cut out the amount of silly mistakes that we are making.”

He added: “The defence has done well most of the season, but at the moment we’re having to score three goals to win, and that isn’t going to work .”

There were no complaints from Harvey over the call off at the weekend, as the cold snap decimated fixtures across the junior level.

After the call off was announced, he instead ran the rule of the Glen’s under 21’s, who beat Barrhead under 21’s 4-1.

He added: “It’s always nice to run the eye over them.

“They are still a young team and because of the nature of the team they have to rebuild, but there’s some decent players there. They looked in good shape and played well.”

Kick off for Saturday’s rearranged Cup tie is 1.30pm.

The previously scheduled game against Glenafton has been postponed to a later date as a result.
