The Capital Appeal is in it’s final stages of fundraising and the hospice is still accepting donations to help them finish what they started – if you just want donate to their Christmas Appeal this will enhance the Comfort and Joy of our patients’ year.

For just £5 you can help the Hospice’s Comfort and Joy campaign by sending a personalised Christmas eCard or bauble to bring some festive cheer to the special people in your life.

You can personalise your eCard or bauble at ttps:// www.st-andrews-hospice.com/fundraising/ capital-appeal/comfort-joy-christmas-appeal/for £5.

Your donation will greatly benefit future patients and give them the comforts of home while being in the hospice.

One family shared their experience of the festive period at St Andrew’s:“Every member of staff made us feel like we were their family.

“We were able to laugh and to cry. It was far from being a sad place, it was filled with comfort and good cheer. It was a particularly difficult time of year for my brother’s passing, just before Christmas, but despite this we feel that the Hospice was‘Our Happy Place’. We knew that our brother passed away peacefully and we take great comfort in that.”

Proceeds from the Comfort and Joy campaign will go towards the hospice’s £9million Capital Appeal to fund the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the hospice.

Although the refurbishment work has been completed, they still have approximately £1.4 million to raise to fund the project.

St Andrew’s Hospice now has 21 single rooms with en-suite facilities and three multi-occupancy rooms, also with en-suite wet rooms.

The facilities include many features to ensure patients continue to receive quality, person-centred care at the end of life.

These include over-bed hoists, integrated oxygen, access to the courtyard garden as well as practical features to aid care. Fresh, modern design and décor with flexible heating and better lighting are key aspects of the room design.

All of the public spaces have also been upgraded and fitted out with new fixtures and fittings which add to the comfort of patients, their families and visitors to the Hospice.

As well as the Comfort ad Joy campaign, other events are being held to contribute to the Capital Appeal in the New Year including a Burns Night Celebration on 31 st January, a Whisky Tasting Evening on March 6 and a Summer Chic Ladies Lunch on May 10.
