A heartless Grinch has spoiled Christmas for a Cambuslang grandmother.

The callous thief has left Satti McGarry “devastated” after stealing an expensive projector that displayed magical Christmas scenes on her Gilbertsfield Road.

The equipment was taken from her garden overnight last week while she slept.

Satti told the Reformer: “My husband and I have put the projector out in the garden for the last couple of years to not only brighten up our garden with Christmas lights, but to spread some festive cheer and cheer other people.

“For somebody to have the audacity to come on to our property while we slept and physically cut the lights from the external box and steal them is not on.

“I just don’t know how anyone could do that. It’s almost Christmas – they have stolen Christmas.

“I am livid, I can’t believe someone would do this.” Satti went to bed last Wednesday with the Christmas projector lights on a timer to go off just after midnight.

However, when she woke on Thursday morning they were missing.

She went on: “It’s so upsetting. My granddaughter is devastated and the kids next door really loved the lights, too.

“It’s frightening to think that someone was actually in our garden cutting wires.

“Whoever it was could have been trying house doors or people’s cars, you just don’t know.”

Sadly for Satti, 57, this isn’t the first time that she has fallen victim to garden thieves – in the summer her solar lights were stolen.

She added: “It’s just horrible. You try your best to make the place look nice all year round and also spread some Christmas cheer and somebody ruins it.

“I’ve lived here for 17 years and will think twice about putting things up outside again.”

Sergeant Scott Anderson, of

Rutherglen police office said: “Over the festive period we are aware people have valuable ornaments, lights, illuminables within their garden.

“These items can be expensive and we would advise residents to be vigilant and report suspicious behaviour to police.

“If possible, bring items indoors to prevent theft.

“Community police will be on foot patrol throughout the festive period providing an additional deterrent.”
