A Cambuslang singer has a big gig lined up for tonight (Wednesday).

Rebekah Kirk will perform at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut as part of the venue’s New Year’s Revolution series of gigs, which aims to highlight the best emerging talent in Scottish music.

She will perform alongside Mike McKenzie, Andrew Dickson and Marina Rolink.

Tickets are priced at £8 and doors open at 8.30pm.

Last year saw Rebekah release her first single, Haunted.

Lanarkshir­e Philatelic Society held their first meeting of the year last weekend.

Members gathered in Caledonian Bowling Club for an eclectic evening.

And they enjoyed some whistle-stop tours around the globe.

With postmarks, registered labels and postcards of Post Offices, the tour of Jamaica was presented by Terry Woods; Sheila Sinclair took members round Alaska; then it was over to the Faroe Islands with David Haig; the Isle of Arran with Margaret Lyth; Fiji with Andy Napier; and Gibraltar with Ken Norris.

War also featured, including postcards and mail sent from the Somme during the First World War; stamps issued by the

Norwegian government-in-exile in the Second World War; and stamps from Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939.

Dr Ken Liddell led members in giving thanks to all who had presented such interestin­g of displays, and also thanked Ken Norris for sponsoring the evening.

The society’s next meeting will be in Caledonian Bowling Club, Motherwell Road, Hamilton, on Friday, January 17, at 7.30pm. Member Brian Dow will present his display on‘farming.’

Anyone with an interest in stamps, postal history or postcards is welcome to attend.
